Severe Weather Pops
The theme of punishment/possible risk of pain or suffering is reoccurring in a lot of my work. I think it began as a way to address feelings of guilt that I could not place. In this performance, I collected rainwater from a puddle on my porch the morning after a bout of severe thunderstorms and poured it into popsicle molds. After the rain pops were frozen, I sat in the sun and licked one until it was gone. the other three melted during that time, back into the puddle they came from. My lips were numb. The top of the popsicle was filled with debris.
